Hidden Glasgow presents: Tollcross Children's Farm!

We're showcasing some of Glasgow's furry friends with today's recommendation! Featuring Tollcross Children's Farm, giving you a taste of rural life in the city!

About Tollcross Children's Farm:

The farm's courtyard dates back to the 19th century, and was restored in the late 1990's with funding from Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The farm features all the usual farmyard favourites such as sheep, ponies, pigs, and of course the ever-popular alpacas! You can also find smaller critters like guinea pigs, lovebirds, and chickens!

How is Tollcross Farm hidden?

Tollcross Farm can be found at the Wellshot Road entrance to Tollcross Park, east of the city centre You can get there via a short bus journey on the 240 First Bus, or travel three stops on the Edinburgh line train from Glasgow Queen St train station.
The farm may be overlooked for the more well-known animal attractions like Edinburgh Zoo, but this fantastic facility is absolutely free and conveniently, right on your doorstep!

Why should I go to Tollcross Farm?

As well as being kind to your wallet, a visit to the farm brings so many benefits! It gives the opportunity to teach wee ones about where their food originates, and about learning to respect wildlife whilst experiencing the new sights and smells of a working farm. Plus, it's ideal for those who need to get away from the urban jungle without breaking the bank, or you might fancy somewhere a bit different for a first-date destination!

What's nearby?

The Farm is near Wellshot Road in Tollcross, populated with loads of affordable options to eat and drink. 'Mmm Delicious' on Tollcross Road offers cheap and cheerful sandwiches and desserts, and there's always the option of heading to the nearby Lidl and grabbing a picnic if the weather holds out!
